DJ name?
-I don’t do the whole Dj name thing…it’s just my name. Dean Dixon.

Country of origin?
I’m Canadian, but I now also have Australian citizenship. So I’m kinda 50/50 now. Hahaha

When did you become a Bali resident DJ?
-
I moved to Bali about three years ago now to take on a Dj residency at Potato Head Beach Club and kinda got hooked to the "local spirit, tropical soul” vibes.

Tell us your background in music:
Well, I’ve always had an interest in music. I played the drums in high school and always had music on at home but never considered delving into it as a career for any time period and never in my wildest dreams had a I ever considered Dj’ing ever. But as it turns out, I got stuck way up north working in Canada and there was no where good to go out, so I decided to put on my own event. I actually started Dj’ing the week before the first party I ever threw. I was terrible! But it was really fun and no one there knew any better so I was really lucky in that regard because everyone thought I was great! Hahaha
After that I was hooked and I ended up moving to Australia for work a short while later and slowly got more into it there. When I made the move to Sydney I starting throwing parties with a few like-minded pals and that party we called "HAHA” eventually built itself up into an event and touring company called HAHA Industries. We hosted and toured some really amazing artists and put on a lot of great events over the course of just over a decade. When we decided to call it quits I wanted to simplify things, focus more on myself, Dj’ing, playing music and slowly delve into music production.
I had a look around and the opportunity at Potato Head Beach Club popped up and I decided to jump at it and I haven’t looked back since. Hahahaha
So that’s how I basically got more and more heavily involved in music and the greater scene itself, in a long winded sorta way. HAHAhaha

Favourite styles to spin?
-I prefer not being bound to a particular genre so I don’t really have a favourite.
